Harrison County Parks and Recreation is bringing back its popular annual dinosaur exhibit, set to open this weekend at the Harrison County Recreation Complex.
This year’s exhibit will showcase a collection of dinosaur fossils and feature an intriguing exploration of the theory that Bigfoot may have ties to the prehistoric giant ape, Gigantopithecus, which once roamed Asia.
“Some see Bigfoot as nothing more than folklore, while others believe there could be a real connection to ancient primates,” said Parks Director Mike Book. “We thought it would be fun to examine that theory as part of this year’s exhibit.”
The dinosaur exhibit has been a local favorite for more than a decade, drawing visitors of all ages with its rotating displays and fresh discoveries each year.
“New research and findings are always being published, so even though we’re focused on the past, there’s always something new to learn,” Book added.
The exhibit officially opens to the public on March 15 and will run through April 12. Visitors can explore the displays Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and weekends from noon to 4 p.m.
As always, admission is free.
